A Last Reminder of SLT Trams

Above is the only surviving part of a South Lancashire Tramways car - now residing at the Museum of Transport in Manchester. It is the lower saloon compartment of car No. 65, originally built by Brush in 1906. The stairs and the upper-deck are missing, as is the running gear. It survived as a garden shed in Westhoughton and was presented to the museum by Lancashire United. It is now undergoing major restoration work, but it will be a long time before it ever sees service again!
