This car was purchased in 1901, but probably never operated on SLT track.
It is thought to be the car built in 1897 as an experimental car for the Simplex
Electric Tramway Conduit Syndicate Ltd.
Withdrawn after 1908.

Nos. 4, 6, 10 fitted with new English Electric bodies c.1920.
No. 44 re-numbered 40 in 1927.
Top-covers were fitted to most of these cars between 1914 and 1924; most
re-trucked with Brill 21E trucks from 1919.
Withdrawn by 1924 (15, 16, 22, 23, 27, 37, 40, 41, 43, 45), by 1933 (1-14,
17-21, 24-26, 28-36, 38-39, 42, 44[40]).

Nos. 46-58 ex-Farnworth UDC (Nos. 1-13, new 1901-1902); re-seated to 40/34 at
a later date and to 52/34 by 1924; all (except Nos. 51, 52) fitted with
top-covers at a later date.
Nos. 46, 53-54, 56-58 (plus one unknown car) received new English Electric
bodies in 1923-1924.
Nos. 59-60, 62, 73 received new English Electric top-covers c.1924; some of the
cars from this batch (59-82) received new bodies, whilst others received new
top-covers, although exact details are uncertain other than the aforementioned.
Withdrawn 1930 (two cars, possibly 51-52, but uncertain), by 1931 (59-82), 1933
(remainder).
